    How much fiber is in PediaSure with Fiber?

    PediaSure with Fiber has 3 grams of fiber per serving, making the product a good source of fiber* for a child's daily diet (12% of fiber value).

    Is there "enough" fiber in PediaSure with Fiber?

    According to the Dietary Reference Intakes document,* the recommended level of fiber in children's diets is as follows:

    • 19 grams for a 1- to 3-year-old
    • 25 grams for a 4- to 8-year-old
    • 26 grams for girls 9 to 18 years old
    • 31 grams for boys 9 to 13 years old
    • 38 grams for boys 14 to 18 years old

    PediaSure with Fiber contains 3 grams per 8-fl-oz serving, while the other PediaSure products contain 1 gram of fiber. This formulation can help fill the gaps for children who are not getting enough fiber from the rest of their diets.

    Can a child younger than 2 years of age use PediaSure products?

    Talk to a health care professional about use of this product if your child is younger than 2 years of age. PediaSure products are not intended for infants younger than 1 year of age. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, infants under a year old should be breastfed or fed an iron-fortified infant formula.

    Do PediaSure products contain milk?

    Yes. PediaSure contains milk protein.These proteins are derived from cow’s milk. PediaSure products are suitable for children with lactose intolerance.*

    Do PediaSure products contain peanuts or tree nuts? Are they manufactured on the same line as other products containing peanuts or tree nuts?

    There are no peanuts or nut derivatives in PediaSure products. There are no peanuts or tree nuts in the manufacturing plants (or on the lines) where PediaSure products are manufactured.

    Can you drink PediaSure products directly from the bottle?

    Yes. They come ready to use and require no preparation. Many people find that PediaSure tastes better when chilled.

    Can I put PediaSure products in the refrigerator for later use?

    Yes. Follow the instructions on the label: "After opening, reclose, refrigerate, and use within 48 hours."

    Can PediaSure products be frozen?

    We do not recommend freezing and then thawing these products. If the product is frozen and then thawed, it may change the physical appearance, making it look unacceptable.

    Can PediaSure be warmed before drinking to enjoy like hot chocolate? Can I use the microwave?

    These products can be heated so that they are warm, but not so hot as to burn the mouth. The temperature of the product should be checked before offering it to your child. (Although it is not necessary to check the temperature with a thermometer, if one is used the temperature should be in the range of 100°F to 110°F.) If a microwave is used to warm the product, please pour it into a microwave-safe container prior to heating.

    What are the age guidelines for PediaSure?

     

    PediaSure meets or exceeds the US Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) for protein and 23 essential vitamins and minerals for children 2 to 8 years of age in 1,000 mL and for children 9 to 13 years of age in 1,500 mL.

    What is the recommended amount of PediaSure to use in a day? Is there a limit on how much can be used in a day?

    In general, there is not a limit on the amount of PediaSure that a child can safely consume. For an individual child, the amount of PediaSure that is needed — or is acceptable — on a daily basis should be discussed with the child's health care professional. If the child is eating foods and drinking other beverages, it is especially important to determine how much PediaSure would be appropriate in the context of the overall diet.

    Is PediaSure available through the WIC®* program?

    Yes, PediaSure is WIC-eligible in all 50 states for children up to age 5. Ask your doctor or local WIC representative if your child can benefit from the nutrition in PediaSure.

    Do you make a non-milk-based PediaSure?

    A non-milk-based form of PediaSure is not available.

    Is there any caffeine in PediaSure?

    There is no caffeine in Vanilla, Banana, Berry, or Strawberry PediaSure drinks.

    Chocolate PediaSure has trace amounts of caffeine. It contains approximately 3 mg caffeine in 8-fl-oz. (In contrast, brewed coffee contains approximately 100 mg caffeine in 8-fl-oz; carbonated beverages contain approximately 50 mg caffeine in 12-fl-oz.)

    Why is there sugar in PediaSure?

    We tested several versions of PediaSure formulations with children to study their taste preference. The testing showed that the children preferred a sweeter taste. As a result, we produced six “Kid-Approved” flavors. It is important that the product has a pleasant taste that children will enjoy drinking.

    Does PediaSure contain lactose?

    Yes, PediaSure does contain a small amount of lactose. The amount of lactose in PediaSure is clinically insignificant. PediaSure is suitable for children with lactose intolerance.*
